Wow, it's been how long since I touched the Heroes S1 Episode Title drabble project?

Anyway. Some new ones!

-----

Fandom: Farscape, crossed over with something else (non-spoilery)
Title: 4. Collision )

-----

Fandom: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, futurefic
Title: 20. Five Years Gone )

-----

Fandom: Supernatural, futurefic, potentially spoilery for last week's episode
Title: 8. Seven Minutes To Midnight )

That last one is threatening to turn into something longer. SEND HELP.
batyatoon: (so screwed)
So, um.

Some of you already know that [livejournal.com profile] dotfic and I have been working on an epic SPN fanfic together.

It's actually close enough to done that Dot has posted a teaser scene in her LJ. We're thinking the whole thing goes up within 5-7 days.

Uh.

Drabble project, heigh-ho.

Fandom: Supernatural, through the most recent episode ("Jus In Bello").
Title: 21. The Hard Part )

Two new drabbles for the Heroes S1 Title Project!

The first one turned out way too long. I'm calling it a double drabble.

-----

Fandom: Terry Pratchett's Discworld (with a non-spoilery shoutout to somebody else)
Title: 1. Genesis )

-----

Fandom: Firefly
Title: 18. Parasite )

-----

I need some ideas for additional fandoms. *considers*

The drabble project continues! (And still needs a name.)

This one's for [livejournal.com profile] bookelfe.

Fandom: In the Garden of Iden by Kage Baker
Title: 17. Company Man )
batyatoon: (no swimming)
Next drabble in the ongoing project: the other one they told me I'd never be able to make work.

Fandom: Marvel Comics (specifically the current X-Factor title)
Title: 23. How To Stop An Exploding Man )
batyatoon: (Stephen King novel)
Next up in the Heroes S1 Title Drabble project! (Which still needs a name.) The listed fandom should be warning enough.

Fandom: IT, by Stephen King
Title: 10. Six Months Ago )

So! Since nobody seems to think I particularly need a filter, I'm not making one.

Here, therefore, are the first few entries in the Heroes Season 1 Episode Title Drabble* Project. ...Which needs a new name, because that is a long and clunky name. I'm taking suggestions!

I'm not writing them in order, so the first one is #5. I'm also not introducing them with the fandoms; they should be recognizeable, but not always immediately. [ETA] ON SECOND THOUGHT: as [livejournal.com profile] mtgat points out, people may want to avoid spoilers. So: introducing with fandoms after all.

Fandom: Supernatural, pre-canon
Title: 5. Hiros )

-----

Fandom: Quantum Leap
Title: 3. One Giant Leap )

-----

Fandom: Doctor Who, revival version, Season One
Title: 15. Run! )

-----

Fandom: Doomsday Book by Connie Willis, post-canon
Title: 13. The Fix )

-----

More coming as I write them.

[ETA the second] *Drabble: yes, I am aware that strictly speaking a drabble should be precisely one hundred words. I subscribe to a somewhat looser interpretation, to wit: if it's between 75 and 150 wordcount, I don't feel too bad about calling it a drabble. Call them postcard fics if you prefer that.
batyatoon: (bee girl)
So last week I heard Anna Nalick's song "Paper Bag" for the first time. (The lyrics are here. Go take a look. I'll wait.)

It was the line "You know I gotta keep these cheeks dry today" that caught my attention. Self, I said to myself, haven't we heard something very like that line somewhere before?

And ... yeah. We have.
In a song that had a video involving a little girl in a bee costume.

Hence my new icon.

:D?
batyatoon: (foodie)
By request!

(For those of you going "recipes for whatnow?": Cholent.)

These are not so much recipes as vague descriptions. It's about as specific as I ever get.

From the last panel of yesterday's comic on Questionable Content, rearranged so as to fit in a square.

If you've known me for any length of time at all, you know I have days like this. Occasionally entire weeks.
batyatoon: (might as well dance)
...but was too tired.

Am back from California. Am not dead, despite stated intent of my hosts to sacrifice me atop Mt. Diablo. (Kind of sorry I missed seeing Mt. Diablo from the top, though.)

For those of you who haven't seen it yet, [livejournal.com profile] ladymondegreen and I parodied [livejournal.com profile] cadhla's "Fly Little Bird" thusly. (Original lyrics here.)

My pants are well and truly bankrupted. If you posted anything since Wednesday that you think I should have seen and didn't, give me a holler.
batyatoon: (might as well dance)
So you know how I said before that the Heroes team needs code names?

Well.

I went there. )

:D?
batyatoon: (anime)
She didn't know she could do that. But she did.

*stares at self*

Started it on the plane on the way back from OVFF, continued it once we got home, finished it last night. I've got a working tune, which I have the unsettling feeling is stolen from something else that I can't remember. I've got three verses and a wordless-vocals chorus and a bridge, and I think either the bridge needs to be longer or I need a fourth verse.

But. Dude. I wrote a song. This is so weird.

[Also, just to keep y'all informed: I am home sick today with mild fever and vomiting. But that's not what I came to tell you about!]

Am putting the lyrics up under my brand new Fellow Filkers filter. If you want to be added to it, sing out! (No pun intended.)

So as many of you already know, I play in a LJ-based RPG called [livejournal.com profile] milliways_bar, which is an Ultimate Crossover. As it happens, two of my characters there are Joss Whedon characters: Buffy the Vampire Slayer's Andrew Wells, and Firefly's Dr Simon Tam.

If you look at it a certain way, this was really sort of inevitable.

Please don't hurt me.

This is what happens when you listen to Beatles music while cleaning house for Pesach.

Set to a possibly recognizeable tune:

Winter's here, spring is coming
The whole house is humming
The Passover season is due
And at the end of the day
I will seal things away,
And I'll sell all my leaven to you.

I'll be cleaning my kitchen
My dishes I'm switchin'
(Remember that dairy is blue!)
And at the end of the day
I will seal things away,
And I'll sell all my leaven to you.

All my leaven, I will sell to you.
All my leaven, 'cause you are not a Jew.
All my leaven, ooh, all my leaven...

*facepalm*

I have committed evil. Just thought y'all should know.

LOST and LOTR-the-film fans in particular, take note.

ETA: Warning - it's a pretty big animated gif, over 800K. Say sorry.

Meme ganked from [livejournal.com profile] genarti.

A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.
