(no subject)

Just a heads up to folks who might expect to see me online tonight:

If I'm not, here's why.

(Razzum frazzum Blue Screen.)

1. The IT guy here told me to bring in the CPU and they will look at it. Any idea how to remove a CPU? Or which bit is the CPU?

2. I am quite sure that the old computer still has its modem intact. (Remember that we needed to buy a new one?) So it should be easy to have that running, as slow as it might be.

3. I found a site that allowed me to download the elements of a Windows 2000 bootdisk. (Four disks, really.) I think i would like to try them and see what happens.

4. Worst comes to worst, we go to CompUSA after shabbos - they are open till 9 pm - and talk with them, and maybe buy XP.

5. I e-mailed Miri but don't even know if I have the right e-mail for her.

6. Love you and will make this right. :)

5. In theory, she might be coming to Mom to learn tonight, but I hate to say "hey, drop by, say hi, and oh, can you save our computer again?"

6. I know, but you know my overinflated sense of responsibility.

1. IT saying "bring in the CPU" means bring in the computer case itself, and don't bother lugging along the monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc.

I had the Blue Screen of DOOM back in January, and it turned out to be a hard drive failure. Here's hoping your problem is more easily solved.

This is why they invented cell phones!

(10:01 pm. You will probably hear me howling all the way across the river...)
