Finding My Feet

So I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to use this LJ for. Some possibilities:

* Invent a mildly insane persona. Post as her regularly. "Monday: I'm more sure than ever that my pants are plotting against me. Will keep you posted. // Tuesday: I've just realized that I don't own any pants. Huh." Problem: could get old real fast.

* Do random diarylike things. Tell people What I Did Today, or on occasion What I Thought About Today. Problem: potentially very boring; e.g., today's would go something like "Woke up around ten-thirty after some very strange dreams I can't remember. Showered... mmm, elderflower & tea-tree body wash. Checked my email and BBoards. Made tuna sandwich for lunch, with tomato and lettuce. Note to self: buy more tomato and lettuce. Spent the afternoon making new music mix CDs and listening to old filk tapes." Nobody has any interest in reading this. (Honestly, if you do have any interest in reading that, you have got to get out more. I mean it.)

* Critique media -- books, TV, movies, etc, depending on what I'm reading/watching. Problem: I do this already, on email lists and BBoards and such. Too many of my entries here would just be links to my rants elsewhere.

* Practice writing; force myself to put down at least a couple hundred words on some topic at some point every day. Problem: I've tried that before, and I never keep up with it. Plus the "boring" issue again.

* Talk about my personal troubles, whenever I happen to have them. Problem: could slip far too easily into WTMI.

* Imitate Seanan McGuire: find something I know a lot about (poetry writing, in her case), and deliver short courses on it sporadically. Problem: do I know anything well enough to teach it? If I do, will anyone be interested?

I have no idea, really.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Any questions? Any answers? Would anyone care for a mint?

All of the above?

At least, that's what I'm doing. A little bit of writing practice, a little bit of "Stuff I do", a little bit of random babbling. If you do a lot of changing up, at least it won't be boring? Or it'll scare people away, like my foray into Gonzo Journalism for imaginary worlds.

I agree - all of the above, or some of the above, or "flavor of the day".

I suspect a lot of my entries are boring - but then people seem amused by some of the boring ones. Hmmm.

My daily dose of Toondom is here, and I can wump too!

*grins* It's Yin. Who else would exult so over daily dosages of Toondom?
Write songs! Poetry! Anything, actually, and of course we'd be interested in what you have to say. A Toon is always worth listening to. :)

It's Jess. Me, I use this space for raving and occasionally just musing out loud. Up to you, really.

So Many Options...

...So few hours in the day.
Welcome to Voyeurs 'R' Us, as you've doubtless been able to see this forum can easily be. People will find you in the oddest places, make comments on the oddest things, and come across to you very... well... Um... Oddly.

Take myself, for example. You don't know me. Yes, I guarantee it or your money back. And yet I found you. Go fig. This world isn't that large. And when you do something silly, like state an opinion or ask a question, especially if you write nearly as well as you've shown here, people are going to respond.

This world is full of people with ideas, and every so often, when we find someone who shares those opinions (or hobbies, or favorite microwaveable snackfoods), we add to what's there, especially if the offer's open.

Speaking of being a pusher ...

Hey, if you like that song, you'll probably like other things by the band that wrote it - Enter the Haggis (http://webhome.idirect.com/~rodent/new/second/content_swag.htm). :-> It's on their first CD, 'Let the Wind Blow High,' along with such silly classics as The Ballad of Jose MacGregor, the Mexican Scotsman, and even serious tunes like Skyswimmer.

Ooh? That's an Enter the Haggis song? I keep hearing bits and pieces about them. Have to get an album when the paycheck comes in and I've paid the bills ... um well, maybe not.
