Strange dream ... wonder what it means

So every now and then my beloved clone [livejournal.com profile] cadhla will tell us about having dreamed a movie, or a TV series. Usually quite an interesting one.

A few nights ago I dreamed a commercial. For a car. A sedan, I think.

The commercial storyline involved a bunch of people in a small town not far from a major interstate highway, riding their bicycles to the edge of the highway to watch the Wild Hunt go by.

Yes, the Wild Hunt. Driving aforesaid black sedans.

It was actually a fairly pleasant commercial: beautifully shot, nicely atmospheric, and assuming a certain knowledge of folklore on the part of the viewer, which is always fun.

I just can't figure out how it got in my head.

You'd think anyone who knows enough to broadcast this commercial to specifically my dream would know that I don't drive.

That actually sounds like a brilliant idea for a car ad. You know, buy the new black Lexus now because it's really cool, different, and wild. Wild enough to be the wild hunt.

In order to continue providing you with dreams as vivid and gripping as you would prefer, it has become necessary for Morpheus, Inc. to secure corporate financing for your dream programming. We attempt to make these adverts as unobtrusive as possible so as not to interfere with your enjoyment of your dreaming.

Thank you for your query. We value you as a regular sleeper.

Actually, this reminds me of some Lexus ads from a few years back ("something wicked this way comes"). Which makes it kind of interesting that dotsomething mentions Lexus.

Of course, the Wild Hunt wouldn't be caught dead in sedans. Sportiest coupes on the market!

Interesting. In Cthulhupunk (da rpg I've been running for a while), the Hunt does motorcycles. Silver motorcycles, with titanium alloy in places.

I've dreamed the Hunt in the last few months. Wish I could remember when exactly, instead of the vague "recently, but not that recently" tag that's attached to it in the soft fuzzy muddle I call a memory.

Just wanted to say I came across your "The Faerie Queen Went Down To Georgia" while doing a search for Heather Alexander's lyrics (since I was listening to it and was suddenly moved to hunt it down for whimsy and notions of new tag lines) and my but it's a small, small world.

Have you checked the new fics out in the the Gargoyles fandom lately? I recommend Jackel if you haven't seen her work yet.

Call it a hunch, but I think you will really like her work. She has the gift of fine story telling.

For the record... I don't remember what the Hunt was riding, save that it was pale and fast, and I was glad to be at the side of the Hunt rather than before it.
