ATTN: friends in the UK

Pursuant to this:

I've gotten some useful suggestions as to how to get from London (Golders Green, specifically) to Basingstoke on Friday February 2. Presumably they'll also be good for getting back on Monday the 5th.

The thing is, we're gonna be traveling with a lot of luggage, including most of our food for the weekend.

So. Bearing in mind that I have no clear idea of the distances and/or roads involved, are there any kind souls out there who might volunteer to give us a ride there and/or back? I would be very grateful. Extremely grateful. There could be cookies.

Sadly, I likely no longer have a vehicle with which to give lifts. Many of the London filkers don't own cars either, so this might be more difficult tha you'd expect. Still, fingers crossed for you! :)

This is why [livejournal.com profile] akawil and I have been happily memorizing the tube map. Since we're starting out in Brighton and then going to London and then going to Basingstoke, and trying to shoehorn in four days of sightseeing, it seemed essential. I should probably post on my journal saying what we're up to and inviting people to participate if they would like. :)

I wish I could, but I can't drive.

However. Basingstoke is 48 miles from London, if that helps?

Just chiming in with two cents of caution. Be sure to investigate beforehand what food items you're allowed to bring into the country, both coming and going. It would suck muchly if U.K. customs confiscates anything.

Possible connection

Batya, m'lady

I may be able to help you with a connection.

I have some cousins in the general vicinity of Golder's Green who are of the Modern Orthodox sub-species. A son of their's might be just curious enough and have the means of finding or having transport to help you get from point a to zed.

Let me know so that I can attempt to commit communication.

Best of luck with the con-guesting

A not-so-anonymous filker

With apologies to AA Milne:
A transport's being thought up. Be brave, little Batya!
