Traveling Gifts: a poem in four haiku

Menthol chewing gum;
a kitten with three red paws;
two new songs, with chords.

A hand-crocheted scarf;
a cookbook for artichokes;
dolphin-shaped hair clips.

Roman glass earrings;
a Celtic music CD
labeled in Hebrew.

Seven foreign coins;
a ripe pomegranate, halved;
a stone from the sea.

What brought that on?

Well, all of these items are actual gifts that I have either received, given, or witnessed the giving of. The stone from the sea (along with the artichoke cookbook) was the most recent. I was thinking about it, and it seemed like there was a poem in there.

(Originally "a stone from the sea" was going to be the first line, but it kept moving down through the poem until I realized it wanted to be last.)
