Isn't it, though?

You may not understand the creepy factor without context, as it's very Milliways-specific. The picture on its own merits remains very pretty.

At any rate: http://img258.imageshack.us/my.php?image=fireflyriverrose4wa.jpg

For those who aren't Milliways types, and are wondering what Secret Disturbing Things I am finding in this painting:

It is very pretty, and very well done, and contains no inherent creepiness that I know of.

But the original of the painting was used as an icon for another character in the Milliways RPG.

And conflating Gabrielle Deschain and River Tam is... problematic. Shall we say.

I can see some creepiness, I guess - the way her left hand is leaning *on* the rose stem, *with* its thorns, she's so pressed up against the wall like trying to break out of it. She identifies with the rose, beauty & pain, the way she has the rose up against her closed eye/temple, rather than sniffing it or looking at it. Like she's trying to break out of the garden, as the rose creeps up out of the garden.
