The Name Game

No, not the one that goes "name name bo bame, banana fana fo fame, me mi mo mame". Because that one will give me fatal flashbacks to summer camp and I will wind up attacking you all with a crude club fashioned out of a graham cracker box.

If you call me Batya, you're most people.

If you call me Betty or some variant thereof because you have no idea how to pronounce Batya, you're probably a telemarketer. Go away.

If you call me Toon, you know me through the internet.

If you call me Toonity, you know me through the brunchma.com bboard.

If you call me O great and mighty Toon, stop it. We've been through this.

If you call me Batya-Dee, you're either my dad or my uncle Jonathan. (If you follow that up with "my sweet sweet pea," I respectfully remind you that I'm not five anymore. And you probably reply with "Could've fooled me." And then I have to pull your nose.)

If you call me Duckie or Froggie, you're my dad in a silly mood.

If you call me Oogiewumpus or variants thereof, you're my little sister.

If you call me Booters or my drunken sister, you're my big brother.

If you call me Auntie Batya, you are either (1) one of my nieces and nephews, (2) one of my groupies from brunchma.com, or (3) not allowed to. (And probably a Wicked Evil Lion.)

If you call me Beatrice, at least one of us is in very big trouble.

If you call me Clone, you're one of a very specific handful of people that I love very much, and you know who you are.

If I've missed any, do please let me know.

That's weird. Batya is pronounced exactly like it looks. How can people get that wrong?

Then again, Kiri is pronounced exactly like it looks and they always want to turn it into Carrie.

Never mind, and how ya doing?

What if I call you late to supper?
