The leaders are partially to blame, for creating and encouraging the atmosphere of Fear Of Everything. For creating and encouraging a general policy of Violating Freedoms Is Okay When You're Scared.

The people who buy into it are also partially to blame. Particularly the idiots in the airport who "complained". (About WHAT? Is a bomber seriously dumb enough to advertise it beforehand?)

The idiots in security who acted as they did on the complaint also are partially to blame, for taking the general policies noted above and applying them further. It's security and law enforcement's job not only to respond to possible threats, but to determine when there is no threat. There was no threat and no law broken, and what they should have done, after speaking to the man, was to go back to the complainers and say "ma'am, the gentleman poses no threat and is not breaking any law or rule." And if the idiots who complained weren't satisfied, well, they could stay off the damn plane.

Whuf.

I find myself using this icon more and more lately...
