I have a lot of complaints about 1Q84, both purely literary and sociopolitical, but at the same time there were aspects of it I admire and aspects of it I enjoyed (with partial but not complete overlap between those two). It's definitely not a book I would go around recommending to people, especially because it is ridiculously long, but ... enh. I would kind of love to rewrite it, which is ironic given the fact that the plot significantly involves someone rewriting a book.
